PRN Thirumurugan of the All India N.R. Congress has won the Karaikal North Assembly constituency in Puducherry, securing 12,731 votes and defeating Indian National Congress candidate A.M. Ranjith by a margin of 2,653 votes. A. Vengadesh of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam finished third with 5,033 votes. Other candidates, including independents and Naam Tamilar Katchi, trailed significantly.

Thirumurugan's Dominance
Thirumurugan’s victory marks his fourth consecutive term from the constituency. He has remained a dominant figure in the region since 2011, initially winning on a Congress ticket before shifting to AINRC and consolidating his position through successive wins. His 2021 victory had been narrowly secured by just 135 votes, making this election a significant improvement in margin.
Voter Turnout Surge
The constituency also recorded a notable rise in voter participation. Turnout reached 85.86 percent, compared to 77.4 percent in 2021. Polling saw steady momentum through the day, with participation rising from 18.49 percent at 9 am to 83.84 percent by 5 pm, reflecting sustained voter engagement across the constituency.
