Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of being afraid of the PDA community, comprising Pichde (Backward classes), Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (Minorities). Addressing party functionaries at the SP headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav claimed that Parliament cleared the 33 percent reservation bill for women in 2023, but the BJP-led central government has rejected it by seeking an amendment.
BJP rattled by PDA unity, says Akhilesh
“The PDA community is standing firm with SP, and this has left the BJP scared. The fear of being defeated in the Assembly elections has rattled the BJP, which is now resorting to anarchy. The BJP is misleading people about the women reservation bill. The fact is that Parliament cleared the 33 percent reservation for women bill in 2023 itself. The BJP is not approving the bill,” Akhilesh said.
Economic mismanagement blamed on BJP
Holding the BJP responsible for the poor state of economic affairs in the country, Akhilesh said that due to the BJP’s faulty policies, the value of the rupee is falling against the US dollar every passing day. He asserted that the BJP government has lost the confidence of the people.
Call to strengthen booths and mass contact
Yadav called upon party cadres to strengthen booths and conduct mass contact programmes to inform people about how the government has shut schools across the state, duped farmers by reducing the quantity of fertilisers in bags, and increased the cost of crop production. He asked functionaries to inform people about the party’s plans to offer free education from kindergarten to post graduation, free electricity for irrigation, and a monthly stipend for poor women.
Pre-paid meters a tool to fleece public
Akhilesh Yadav also accused the BJP government of fleecing people through pre-paid meters. “They are taking money out of the poor man's pockets through pre-paid meters. The BJP is misusing technology to deprive people of their hard-earned money through pre-paid and smart meters,” he said. He added that people have caught the BJP stealing, and the common man is angry about it. He urged cadres to take up the issue in their mass contact campaigns.
