Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her nephew and Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee at the state secretariat in Kolkata. The meeting, which lasted for about an hour, focused on the current political scenario and the upcoming elections in various states.
Compliments for Electoral Performance
During the meeting, Akhilesh Yadav congratulated Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee for their party's impressive performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections. He said, "You fought the elections very well. Your strategy and hard work have paid off." Mamata Banerjee thanked him for his words and discussed the need for opposition unity to counter the ruling party at the Centre.
Discussion on Opposition Unity
The two leaders also discussed the possibility of forming a united opposition front for the upcoming assembly elections in several states. They emphasized the importance of collaboration among like-minded parties to present a strong alternative to the voters. Akhilesh Yadav said that the Samajwadi Party and the Trinamool Congress share similar ideologies and can work together effectively.

Sources close to the meeting revealed that the leaders also talked about the political situation in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. They discussed ways to strengthen their respective parties and coordinate their efforts in the national interest.
