SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav Launches Scathing Attack on BJP Government
In a sharp critique delivered in Lucknow on Sunday, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav leveled serious allegations against the BJP-led central government, claiming that India's foreign policy is now influenced by external powers. Speaking to the media after attending a program in the Jankipuram area, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister asserted that the BJP has abandoned India's traditional policy of non-alignment, replacing it with what he termed "bloc-aligned diplomacy."
Allegations of Weakened Sovereignty and External Influence
Yadav argued that this shift has significantly weakened the country's sovereignty and self-reliance. He claimed that, for the first time, India's foreign policy decisions appear to be dictated by foreign forces, with the central government allegedly looking to other nations for direction on key matters. According to him, this situation suggests that policy decisions are being made under external influence rather than in India's independent interest, marking a departure from the nation's historical diplomatic stance.
Criticism of Domestic Policies and Religious Disrespect
The SP leader further alleged that the BJP government is uncomfortable with "truth and honest voices," and even followers of Sanatan traditions feel uneasy under the current regime. Referring to recent controversies involving religious leaders, he accused the government of showing disrespect towards Shankaracharyas, which he said tarnishes the image of Sanatan Dharma. Yadav also criticized the administration over economic issues, claiming that inflation and corruption have reached alarming levels, causing hardships for people from all sections of society.
Women's Day Greetings and Security Concerns in Uttar Pradesh
On the occasion of International Women's Day, Akhilesh Yadav extended greetings and called for a fundamental change in society's outlook towards women. In a statement, he emphasized that both the government and society must continuously work for women's upliftment and empowerment, noting that a society where women progress is considered progressive and that Indian traditions have long respected women and daughters.
However, Yadav alleged that women in Uttar Pradesh are the most insecure under the BJP government, with incidents of crimes against women occurring on a large scale. He claimed the government has failed to ensure their safety and provide adequate employment opportunities. The SP chief also accused the Uttar Pradesh Police of manipulating crime data related to women, citing figures from the National Crime Records Bureau that indicate high levels of insecurity for women in the state.
