Indian Army's EME Director General Inspects Desert Sector Units in Rajasthan
Lieutenant General Rajiv K. Sahni, the Director General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (DG EME) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of EME in the Indian Army, conducted a comprehensive tour of formations and EME units under the Konark Corps in western Rajasthan on Monday. The senior officer's visit encompassed key locations in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, focusing on the operational and technical preparedness of military installations across the challenging desert sector.
Assessment of Operational and Technical Readiness
During his inspection, Lt Gen Sahni meticulously reviewed the maintenance, repair, and engineering support systems that are critical for ensuring the operational readiness of combat platforms and other essential military equipment deployed in the region. The General Officer also examined several ongoing innovation projects that are being developed within the units. Lt Gen Sahni expressed particular appreciation for the units' efforts in establishing an in-house ecosystem dedicated to the production and sustenance of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter-UAS (CUAS) capabilities. He highlighted that these initiatives not only demonstrate a strong spirit of self-reliance but also align perfectly with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, which emphasizes indigenous development and reduced dependency on foreign technology.
