BJP Expels Vandalizing Workers, Halts New Inductions

Kolkata: BJP president Samik Bhattacharya stated on Tuesday that any party worker found vandalizing while carrying a BJP flag will face expulsion. He emphasized that the party has closed its doors to new members for the time being.

Strict Action Against Vandalism

Speaking to the media, Bhattacharya said, "At some places, people carried the BJP flag and engaged in vandalism. We want to make it clear that if anyone does such a thing, we will be compelled to expel them from the party." He added that celebrations were held across the country for West Bengal, but urged workers to remain peaceful and avoid hurting anyone's sentiments.

Appeal to Administration

Bhattacharya also appealed to Chief Secretary Dushyant Nariala to ensure prompt administrative intervention wherever incidents of violence are reported. This comes as the BJP has witnessed a surge in membership, but state leaders want to stop the "unwanted influx" for now.

Complete Halt on Inductions

"Inductions have completely stopped. No one from any other party can be taken into BJP for now. We have sent this message to every level of the organisation," Bhattacharya said. Union minister Sukanta Majumdar echoed this, stating that "all inductions are stopped until further notice."

The party's decision aims to maintain discipline and prevent any disruptive elements from entering its ranks.
