A tragic incident occurred in Dhanbad on Saturday when a five-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs at Bholanath Baseria, Yadav Basti. The victim has been identified as Ankit Yadav, son of Kundan Yadav.

Attack Details

According to family members, Ankit had stepped out to play a short distance from his house in the morning when the dogs attacked him. Witnesses reported that a group of stray dogs suddenly surrounded the child and attacked him, biting and tearing parts of his body. The injuries proved fatal, and the child died on the spot before any help could arrive.

Aftermath and Response

Residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the commotion and immediately informed the family. The parents were inconsolable upon seeing Ankit's body. Locals expressed concern over alleged negligence in controlling the stray dog population.

Gondudih police outpost in-charge Lov Choudhary stated that the family had approached the police demanding compensation. He added that the police advised the family to send the body for a post-mortem examination, but they refused. Instead, they lodged a complaint accusing the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation of negligence.

Speaking to reporters, a grieving Kundan said that his son had gone out in the morning when the stray dogs attacked him. He urged the administration to take immediate steps to capture stray dogs and relocate them to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Attempts to contact officials of the corporation for their response to the incident proved unsuccessful until the time of filing this report.
