The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Saturday took a swipe at K Kavitha's newly launched political outfit, the Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), with a pointed message: 'Original is always original.'
BRS Mocks TRS Launch
Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, officially launched her party on April 25, 2026. The acronym TRS immediately drew comparisons to the earlier name of the BRS—the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which was also abbreviated as TRS before the party rebranded.
The BRS party took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to post a message in Telugu, which translates to: 'Original is always original!' along with a video. The post did not directly name Kavitha or her party but was widely interpreted as a dig at the new outfit.
Political Context
The launch of the TRS marks Kavitha's formal entry into active electoral politics. She has been a prominent figure in Telangana politics and previously served as a Member of Parliament. The timing of the launch is significant, as the state is gearing up for local body elections.
Political analysts view the BRS's comment as an attempt to undermine the new party's credibility by highlighting its similar name to the former TRS. The BRS, under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, has been the dominant party in Telangana since its formation in 2014.
The BRS party's social media post has sparked reactions from political observers and netizens, with some calling it a humorous retort while others see it as a sign of political rivalry heating up in the state.
