Candace Owens' visit to Russia has become the latest flashpoint in her ongoing public feud with Laura Loomer. What began as questions about the purpose of Owens' trip and the fact that her group organized it quickly escalated into a broader online battle, generating thousands of reactions and thrusting conservative commentators back into the center of social media debate.
The Controversy Unfolds
The controversy erupted when claims surfaced that Owens might be linked to an event in Russia. Typically, such a trip and the accompanying speculation would not attract significant attention, but Loomer's public accusations and the intense backlash from online users transformed the story into a viral political and cultural battle.
Laura Loomer's allegations about Candace Owens' Russia trip fueled extensive online debate. The latest round of criticism began after journalist Ryan Mauro shared screenshots that appeared to show Owens listed as a speaker and expert at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Loomer amplified those claims by reposting the screenshots and publishing a lengthy series of posts questioning Owens' travel plans. Her comments focused on allegations that Owens might attend an event where Russian political philosopher Aleksandr Dugin was also expected to appear.
"Candace Owens is 100% in communication with sanctioned individuals. As I reported recently, Dugin said he wants Russia to sell nuclear weapons to Iran to destroy the United States. The State Department, DOJ, and @USTreasury really need to investigate," Loomer alleged in her post.
She also questioned why Owens reportedly described the visit as a family vacation. "Why did you lie to your viewers about this being a family vacation? How come you didn't tell the truth? You're meeting with sanctioned Russians and people like Dugin who called for Russia to sell nukes to Iran to kill Americans. You seem to think your America Last antics are cute. They aren't," Loomer wrote.
Owens has not directly addressed those accusations. However, she appeared to respond indirectly by sharing a photo of herself from Russia, a move many followers interpreted as a dismissal of the growing speculation.
Supporters Defend Owens, Criticize Loomer
As Loomer's posts spread online, many users shifted the conversation away from Owens and toward Loomer herself. Critics accused the activist of becoming overly focused on Owens and questioned why she continued to monitor her movements so closely.
"Laura you need to talk to someone about your obsession with her," one user wrote, adding, "It's disturbing to watch. It's unhinged."
Another user challenged Loomer's criticism by referencing her own international travels. "Didn't you go to India in March, get confronted on stage over your old anti-Indian/H-1B posts, apologize while there, then come back praising it as incredible and saying you love it/want to return?"
Others defended Owens' decision to combine work and personal travel. "She doesn't have to explain everything she does to you. Who hasn't turned a work trip into a family vacation? Two birds, one stone."
The criticism grew even sharper as more users joined the discussion. "You are a certifiable stalker. Seek help!" "She is cute! Don't be jealous Larry. You're so incredibly desperate to discredit @RealCandaceO." "OMG!!! Do you EVER STOP???!!!! Honestly, check yourself into a facility and get help AGAIN!!! Your brain and face seem to be deranged," commented one user.
With neither side showing signs of backing down, the feud continues to generate attention online, highlighting how personal rivalries can quickly overshadow the original issue at the center of the debate.
