The Chandigarh Administration has invited electronic bids for comprehensive tenting and infrastructure arrangements ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to the city on July 17. The Engineering Department issued the tender for an estimated project cost of Rs 2,02,29,915, covering tenting and related setups for the VVIP event.
Bid Details and Timeline
Interested bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 10,11,496. The strict deadline for bid submission is July 8 by 4 pm, with technical bids scheduled to open 30 minutes later at 4.30 pm. The administration aims to ensure top-tier quality by setting stringent pre-qualification criteria.
Pre-Qualification Criteria
Contractors must possess proven experience in successfully executing similar large-scale infrastructure works for VVIPs, such as the President or Prime Minister, within the past three years. This requirement ensures that only experienced firms handle the arrangements.
PM Modi's Likely Engagements
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the Advanced Neurosciences Centre and Mother and Child Health Centre at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI). He is also likely to inaugurate a multi-purpose auditorium on the south campus of Panjab University in Sector 25. The main event is anticipated to be held on the campus of Punjab Engineering College (PEC) in Sector 12.
Estimated Expenditure
The UT Administration is likely to spend nearly Rs 2 crore on tenting arrangements alone, reflecting the scale and importance of the visit. The entire infrastructure setup, including stages, seating, and amenities, will be managed by the selected contractor.
