CJP Writes Open Letter to PM Modi on Student Protests, Wangchuk Hunger Strike
CJP Open Letter to PM Modi on Student Protests and Hunger Strike

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has issued an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling for a response to the ongoing student protest at Jantar Mantar and the indefinite hunger strike by educationist Sonam Wangchuk. The letter, dated July 4, 2026, accuses the central government of ignoring student demands related to alleged exam paper leaks, examination cancellations, and broader educational system issues.

Protest and Hunger Strike Enter Key Milestones

According to the letter, the student protest has entered its 15th day, while Wangchuk's hunger strike has completed seven days. The organization questioned the government's silence, stating, "How long will your government choose to ignore our voices, sir? Yet, you have not spoken a single word." The CJP emphasized that the protest seeks accountability for repeated exam paper leaks and action against Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Demands for Accountability and Resignation

The letter specifically calls for Pradhan's resignation, alleging that the Education Minister has refused to accept moral responsibility for the leaks. "We are sitting here because your government has repeatedly failed to stop exam paper leaks. We are sitting here because your Education Minister refuses to accept moral responsibility and resign," the letter states. The CJP also claimed that the number of student suicides linked to exam paper leaks and cancellations has risen during the protest, from 11 on June 20 to over 29 as of the letter's date.

Allegations of Police Force and Labeling Protesters

The letter references remarks by political leaders, asking, "Your resounding silence makes us ask, do you truly believe we are just 'cockroaches'?" It also alleges that peaceful protesters have been labeled "terrorists" and "anti-nationals." Additionally, the CJP accused Delhi Police of using force against protesters and claimed that books on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh were thrown onto muddy roads during police action. The organization demands the suspension of ACP Ajay Sharma and Inspector Neeraj Sahu over the alleged incident.

Appeal to Prime Minister Modi

Concluding the letter, the CJP appealed to the Prime Minister to intervene: "We demand that you break your silence, listen to the voice of India's future before it is completely lost, and hold your minister Dharmendra Pradhan accountable." The letter was signed by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and several party spokespersons.
