Congress Demands Full Commitment from Cadres Ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
With the assembly election fast approaching, the Congress party in Trichy urban district has issued a strict directive to its functionaries and cadres. They are urged to sacrifice all personal and family events until polling day on April 23, emphasizing a total dedication to the campaign efforts. This move comes even as constituency allocations and the final candidates' list remain pending, highlighting the party's proactive stance in preparing for the electoral battle.
Strategic War Room and AI-Powered Campaigns Launched
To bolster its outreach, Congress has established a dedicated war room at its district office. This facility is tasked with generating Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated videos for online campaigns, specifically designed to counter allegations spread by opposition parties. The initiative aims to leverage technology for effective messaging in the digital sphere.
L Rex, the president of Congress's Trichy urban district unit, stated, "With just a month left for the polling, Congress functionaries were urged to set aside their personal and professional lives to work committedly for the campaign on behalf of parties in the INDIA bloc. We will balance our campaigns equally between street and digital campaigns." This dual approach underscores the party's strategy to engage voters through both traditional and modern methods.
Comprehensive Ward-Level Coordination and Infrastructure Focus
The party has appointed in-charges for all 65 wards covering four key assembly segments in Trichy city: Trichy West, Trichy East, Thiruverumbur, and Srirangam. This meticulous planning involves 1,876 booth-level agents to ensure seamless coordination and grassroots mobilization. The campaign will rally on infrastructure projects initiated by the state government over the past five years, such as the air-conditioned integrated bus terminus, using AI tools to spread messages about these benefits online.
In addition, Congress plans to address hyperlocal subjects through AI characters, discussing political situations in Tamil Nadu to counter anti-incumbency campaigns by AIADMK and BJP. A David, state general secretary of the Congress IT wing, explained, "Already, our AI character Rakkamma is conducting online campaigns for TNCC. We will work on the same lines to take up hyperlocal subjects in Trichy to appeal to voters and prevent malicious campaigns targeting our alliance."
Seat Allocation Hopes and Political Dynamics
Congress is hopeful that the DMK will cede the Trichy East seat, a minority-dominant segment, to them if TVK leader Vijay decides not to contest from there. However, if the actor-turned-politician enters the fray, DMK is expected to field its own candidate, according to Congress sources. This uncertainty adds a layer of complexity to the pre-election preparations, but the party remains focused on its campaign strategies.
