The Dibrugarh assembly constituency in Assam is witnessing a closely watched electoral contest between Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Prasanta Phukan and Aam Janta Party candidate Mainak Patra. Both contenders are actively seeking voter support in this urban seat, which is part of the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.
Exit Polls Predict BJP Majority
According to exit polls released by multiple agencies, the BJP-led alliance is expected to secure a comfortable majority in the state assembly elections. This outcome would pave the way for Himanta Biswa Sarma to continue as chief minister of Assam. The elections for all 126 constituencies were conducted on April 9, with the state recording a voter turnout exceeding 85 percent, one of the highest in recent years.
Strong participation was observed not only in rural areas but also in urban regions, reflecting widespread engagement across the state. Dibrugarh, in particular, saw enthusiastic voter turnout.
