Dr BS Ajaikumar Emphasises Opportunities Over Talent in India

Mysuru: "India has no shortage of talent; what we lack are opportunities. If given the right platform, Indians can lead the world," said Dr BS Ajaikumar, founder and chairperson of International Human Development and Upliftment Academy (IHDUA). He was recalling his experience of serving in the United States for nearly two decades.

IHDUA's 35th Anniversary Celebrations

Speaking at the 35th anniversary celebrations of IHDUA at Gundlupet, Ajaikumar stressed the importance of creating opportunities for Indian youth. A job recruitment drive for various posts was also conducted on the occasion. He also distributed financial assistance worth Rs 27 lakh to nine employees of IHDUA working in Gundlupet. The beneficiaries, who are women, had reportedly borrowed loans from private money lenders and were struggling to repay them.

Concern for Rural Women

Dr Ajaikumar, who is also chairman of Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology, said he was moved after learning about the hardship faced by women employees trapped in debt. Reflecting on rural realities, he said that despite India's immense talent and capability, poverty, unemployment and lack of opportunities continue to hinder development. He expressed concern over the condition of rural women, noting that many work 14 to 18 hours daily without caring for their own health, leading to increasing cases of anaemia and other illnesses.
