DRDO and IAF Successfully Test RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missiles
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have successfully test-fired the RudraM-II air-to-surface missile from an airborne platform. The defence ministry confirmed that the tests were conducted under extreme release conditions, with a critical trajectory that established the capability of all subsystems.
The test firing took place on June 2, 2026, and was announced by DRDO via social media. The missile system demonstrated its operational readiness, showcasing advanced technologies that enhance the strike capabilities of the Indian armed forces.
The RudraM-II is a next-generation air-to-surface missile designed to engage a variety of ground targets with high precision. It is part of India's ongoing efforts to indigenize defence production and reduce reliance on foreign weapon systems. The successful test marks a significant milestone in the development of indigenous missile technology.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO and IAF teams for their efforts. The test underscores India's commitment to self-reliance in defence, aligning with the government's 'Make in India' initiative. Further trials and integration with IAF platforms are expected in the coming months.
