Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Firmly Rejects Drug Consumption Allegations

Eluru Member of Parliament Putta Mahesh has issued a vehement denial in response to circulating allegations linking him to drug consumption, asserting his complete innocence and vowing to emerge unscathed from the controversy. In a video statement released on Sunday, Mahesh clarified that he merely attended a dinner at a farmhouse upon invitation from friends and was not engaged in any unlawful activities.

MP Dismisses Claims as Baseless Social Media Campaign

Mahesh categorically dismissed the accusations as unfounded and part of a malicious campaign propagated through social media platforms. "I have never committed any mistake. I will not commit any mistake. I will come out clean on the issue," the MP declared emphatically, expressing unwavering confidence that the truth would prevail once all facts are thoroughly examined.

The parliamentarian emphasized his readiness to face any inquiry, maintaining that there is absolutely no substance to the allegations leveled against him. He further stressed his consistent record of responsible conduct throughout his public life, appealing to party leaders, supporters, and cadres to disregard the rumors and misleading posts circulating online.

Telugu Desam Party Initiates Disciplinary Action

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has taken swift disciplinary action in response to the allegations. On Saturday, the party issued a formal show-cause notice to Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar following the widespread media attention surrounding the purported drugs-related episode.

This action came within hours of party supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu instructing the state party chief to initiate proceedings against Mahesh. Palla Srinivasa Rao, the state party chief, confirmed that the leadership had served the notice, demanding a detailed written explanation from the MP within a strict 48-hour timeframe.

Interim Suspension and Zero-Tolerance Stance

As an interim measure, Mahesh Kumar has been advised to refrain from participating in all party activities until the matter is thoroughly examined and clarity is achieved. The show-cause notice explicitly directs him to submit his written response to the State President addressing the allegations that have surfaced in the public domain.

Rao indicated that failure to provide a satisfactory explanation within the stipulated period could result in further disciplinary action in accordance with the party's organizational rules and framework. Reaffirming the party's firm position, he underscored that the Telugu Desam Party maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards any illegal activities, including those related to narcotics.

Mahesh has reiterated his full cooperation with any investigation, expressing confidence that he will be completely exonerated from all allegations. He has urged all concerned to remain calm and patient, allowing the truth to emerge through proper channels.
