Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday issued a series of directives to curb drug abuse, organised crime, and illegal poppy cultivation during a high-level meeting with police and administrative officials. The meeting was conducted via video conferencing.
Focus on missing women and children
The CM emphasised that cases related to missing women and children must be accorded top priority. He also warned that land mafia should not receive any protection from officers.
Crackdown on drug peddling
Hemant stated, "A drive must be conducted against criminals involved in drug peddling with the aim of breaking their supply chains. Officers must identify locations where drug sales and purchases occur and maintain close surveillance near schools, colleges, and other educational institutions."
Elimination of poppy cultivation
The CM directed that poppy cultivation must be stopped at all costs in the state. He instructed officers to take targeted action in Khunti, Chatra, and Ranchi districts. Additionally, he urged that locals be educated about the adverse effects of this illegal activity.
Regarding organised crime, Hemant said it must be dealt with strictly, adding that the state government is providing all necessary facilities to the police to prevent such activities. He called for improved coordination with the public, advising police officers to continuously interact with citizens at their offices and address their grievances. He also asked officers to visit rural areas to meet people.
Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Vandana Dadel, and DGP Tadasha Mishra were among those who attended the meeting.
