ICE Arrests Two Indians for Child Sex Crime and Theft

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has released a list of arrests made over the past weekend, which includes two Indian nationals: Hemant Khann-Kumar and Rinkeshkumar Kaushikbhai Patel. According to the agency, Hemant Khann-Kumar is a criminal illegal alien from India, convicted for attempted lewd act upon a child in Contra Costa County, California. Regarding Patel, ICE stated he was convicted of conspiracy to commit theft over $60,000 in Bradley County, Tennessee.

Details of the Arrests

ICE reported that Patel was sentenced to six years in prison, but his sentence was suspended after serving less than a year. Subsequently, ICE took him into custody. "ICE took custody of him from the Bradley County Jail and will hold him pending removal proceedings," the agency said. Over the weekend, ICE arrested numerous criminal illegal aliens convicted of horrific crimes, including manslaughter with intent to cause serious physical injury, criminal sexual conduct on a person aged 13 to 15, and sexual battery.

Official Statement

“Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, ICE never takes a day off,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This weekend, ICE arrested numerous murderers, pedophiles, sex criminals, violent assailants, drug traffickers, and fraudsters. Thank you to our ICE law enforcement for arresting these criminals from our communities. ICE is nice.” Other individuals arrested over the weekend include Farhan Ahmed from Pakistan, convicted of first-degree manslaughter with intent to cause serious physical injury in Queens, New York.

Understanding ICE Detainers

An ICE detainer is a request from the agency to local law enforcement to notify them that an individual is in the country illegally. ICE takes custody after the person has faced justice, with the goal of removal. ICE is notified before such criminals are released. After ICE takes custody, the individuals may be placed in immigration detention and face deportation proceedings.
