Three-Nation Tour Culminates in New Zealand
Modi arrived in Auckland on 10 July 2026, wrapping up visits to two other countries earlier in the tour. The trip focused on strengthening economic and strategic partnerships, with New Zealand being the last stop.
Bilateral Engagements and Key Outcomes
During his stay, Modi held meetings with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. The discussions covered trade, defense cooperation, and climate change initiatives. Both leaders emphasized the importance of the India-New Zealand relationship in the Indo-Pacific region.
Modi highlighted India's rapid infrastructure growth, digital transformation, and renewable energy expansion as examples of the country's developmental strides. According to an official statement, the two sides agreed to enhance collaboration in agriculture technology and space research.
India's Development Trajectory
"India is setting new benchmarks for development, and our partnership with New Zealand will further accelerate this journey," Modi said during a joint press conference. He cited the construction of 100 new airports and the rollout of 5G across the nation as evidence of progress.
The prime minister also noted that India's GDP growth rate has consistently exceeded 7% in recent quarters, making it one of the fastest-growing economies globally.
Cultural and Community Events
In Auckland, Modi addressed the Indian diaspora, praising their contributions to New Zealand's multicultural fabric. He also visited a local temple and participated in a cultural event showcasing Indian dance and music.
The tour concluded with a commitment to hold the next India-New Zealand Joint Trade Committee meeting in New Delhi later this year.
