Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Sunday after a prolonged illness. He was 62 years old. The senior Congress leader had been undergoing treatment for several months and was critical for the past few days.
Political Career and Contributions
Dr Sudhakar was a prominent figure in Karnataka politics, representing the Chikkaballapur constituency. He served as the Health and Family Welfare Minister and was known for his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership in the health sector was widely appreciated across party lines.
Early Life and Education
Born in 1964, Sudhakar completed his MBBS from Bangalore Medical College and later pursued a career in politics. He was first elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in 2008 and held various portfolios including Medical Education and Health.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed deep condolences, calling his demise a great loss to the state. Opposition leaders also paid tributes, acknowledging his dedication to public service.
The funeral will be held with full state honors. The government has declared a day of mourning as a mark of respect.
