Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has made serious allegations against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing them of hiding Bandi Bageerath, an accused in a POCSO case, for nine days. Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, KTR claimed that the accused was shielded due to the political association between Sanjay and Revanth Reddy, leading to injustice against a young girl.
Allegations of Conspiracy and Honey Trap
KTR demanded that both leaders reveal who conspired to file a counter-case against the victim's family, labeling it as a 'honey trap.' He pointed out that Bandi Sanjay's son obtained a court order stating he had no relation to the case. However, KTR questioned why Sanjay later claimed he had handed his son over to the police. He expressed that such a disgraceful situation should not happen to any father.
Criticism of CM's Handling
The BRS leader criticized CM Revanth Reddy for providing excuses that police were busy due to the Prime Minister's visit and could not arrest the accused. He stated that the CM, who also handles the home portfolio, should be ashamed of such justifications. KTR emphasized that nowhere in the country can a POCSO case accused escape for nine days, and it was only possible due to the CM's support and the fact that the accused was a union minister's son.
Political Silence and Forced Response
KTR mentioned that he had no personal issues with Bandi Sanjay, despite Sanjay speaking recklessly about his father earlier. He said he never responded to those comments and is not speaking against Sanjay even today. He clarified that he is speaking with the thought that a criminal is a criminal, whoever they are. The BRS leader condemned the CM's remarks that he and his party were politicizing the issue. He asserted that they remained silent on the sensitive issue of the girl and never politicized it, but were forced to speak after the CM's criticism.
Demand for Investigation
KTR demanded clarity on whether there was any instance in the country where a POCSO case accused was hidden for nine days. He cited reports that the accused was hidden in a hospital owned by a close associate of the CM and called for a thorough investigation. He warned that after witnessing this, no girl in the state would dare to file a complaint against any forceful act.
Praise for Party Colleague
KTR praised the party's General Secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar for alerting the government and media about the entire case. He dared the CM, who alleged about drugs being found at his brother-in-law's house, to file a case and investigate if he has the guts.
The BRS working president's allegations have added a new dimension to the political discourse in Telangana, with opposition parties demanding a transparent investigation into the matter.
