BRS working president and former minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticised the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for engaging a private firm with a controversial track record. The firm, which previously operated under the name Globarena Technologies Private Limited, was responsible for the digitisation of examination administration for the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education in 2019. That year, the state witnessed a major examination fiasco, with widespread allegations of irregularities and technical glitches that disrupted the conduct of intermediate exams.
Background of the Firm
Globarena Technologies Private Limited was contracted by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education to handle the digitisation of exam-related processes. However, the partnership ended in controversy after multiple complaints about mismanagement, data security breaches, and failures in the examination system. The firm's involvement led to a public outcry and subsequent investigations by state authorities.
KTR's Allegations
Speaking to the media, KTR alleged that CBSE has now hired the same firm, thereby exposing students across India to similar risks. He stated that the CBSE's decision to award a contract to this entity reflects a lack of due diligence and a disregard for past failures. KTR demanded a thorough inquiry into the contract and called for immediate cancellation of the agreement to protect the interests of students.
The BRS leader also questioned the transparency of CBSE's procurement process, suggesting that the board may have overlooked the firm's troubled history. He emphasised that the central education board must be held accountable for any potential disruption to examinations.
CBSE's Response
As of now, CBSE has not issued an official statement regarding the allegations. However, sources indicate that the board is reviewing the contract and may take necessary action if any irregularities are found. The controversy has sparked a debate about the need for stricter vetting of vendors in the education sector.
The Telangana exam fiasco of 2019 remains a sore point for students and parents, and KTR's remarks have reignited discussions about accountability in examination management systems.
