Vice Admiral Swaminathan is an alumnus of Bishop Cotton's Boys' School in Bengaluru and Sainik School in Bijapur. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1987. His career spans nearly four decades, with expertise in naval operations and strategic planning.
The appointments come at a time when India is focusing on enhancing jointness among its armed forces and modernizing its defence capabilities. Lt Gen Raja Subramani's experience in the Indian Army and Vice Admiral Swaminathan's naval acumen are expected to contribute significantly to these efforts.
