A 25-year-old man from Etah, identified as Pawan Singh, was allegedly beaten to death by his lover's family after they lured him with an Instagram message from the woman's account late at night. Believing the message was from his lover, Singh walked into the trap.
Details of the Incident
The family brutally thrashed Singh and left him to die in a room. Later, the woman's father and brother dumped his body on a secluded stretch of Shikohabad road in Mainpuri. According to police, the postmortem report stated that death was due to ante-mortem injuries and excessive bleeding.
Police Investigation
SHO Dharmendra Singh Pawar said, "Pawan Singh, who was married, and the accused were neighbors in Etah. Singh's family identified him with the help of a photo of the corpse provided by cops. Following an investigation after the FIR, the lover's father Pramod Kumar, his sons Ravindra and Mohit, and a woman were arrested on Friday night."
Singh, who worked as a driver, had been in a relationship with Kumar's daughter for nearly three years. Her family was firmly opposed to the relationship, and despite a prior settlement at a village panchayat, the two remained in touch. The woman, a BA student, had pressured Singh to leave his wife and marry her.
ASP (Etah) Shwetabh Pandey said, "On the night of April 13, the family sent him a message from the daughter's social media account expressing her desire to meet. The incident took place in Etah, and his body was found the next day in neighboring Mainpuri."
Legal Action
Based on a complaint by Singh's wife, an FIR was registered under BNS sections 103(1) (murder), 238 (destroying evidence), and 191 (rioting) against Pramod Kumar, his son Mohit, Ravindra, and several others at Kotwali Dehat on April 22.
