A shocking incident of murder occurred in broad daylight in the Dindoli police station area of Surat on Tuesday, when a 55-year-old man was killed following a clash between two groups near the Bhestan railway overbridge.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Zakirkhan Pathan, a local resident who earned his livelihood by cleaning and selling empty plastic bags. According to police reports, Pathan had an altercation with a man named Pritam Sharma over a minor issue earlier in the afternoon.
Dispute Escalates into Violence
The initial argument between Pathan and Sharma took place around 3 pm when Pathan was engaged in his routine work of cleaning plastic bags. Sharma allegedly arrived at the location, and the two engaged in a heated exchange of words. The dispute quickly escalated when both men called their friends and relatives to the spot, leading to a violent confrontation involving sharp weapons.
Sharma reportedly summoned his associates, Shubham Marathe and Chetan Bawiskar, to confront Pathan. As tensions mounted, Sharma allegedly stabbed Pathan in the thigh with a knife, causing fatal injuries. In retaliation, Pathan allegedly stabbed Bawiskar in the back.
Injured Rushed to Hospital
Both injured men were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared Pathan brought dead upon arrival. Bawiskar, on the other hand, underwent medical treatment and is reported to be out of danger.
Arrests Made
The Dindoli police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident: Pritam Sharma (22), Shubham Marathe (20), and Chetan Bawiskar. Police have confirmed that cross-complaints have been registered from both sides, and further investigation is currently underway.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting how a minor dispute can tragically escalate into a fatal confrontation.
