PM Modi Accuses Opposition of Spreading Anarchy Amid West Asia Crisis
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asserted that India has handled the fallout of the West Asia crisis "effectively," while launching a sharp attack on the Opposition for allegedly attempting to "spread anarchy" by fueling panic over fuel shortages and rising prices.
Global Disruptions and India's Response
Addressing a rally in Vav-Tharad, Gujarat, Modi explained that global disruptions caused by tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran have significantly affected energy supplies worldwide, particularly impacting diesel, petrol, and gas availability. He emphasized that despite these international challenges, India has managed to keep the situation under control through what he described as "strong foreign policy and national unity."
"The situation unfolding in West Asia is impacting the entire world," Modi stated, adding that despite rising global difficulties, India had successfully avoided major disruption to its energy security and economic stability.
Opposition Accused of Political Opportunism
The Prime Minister directly accused Congress leaders of spreading rumors and fear during this critical period. "But at a time when the country needs unity, Congress leaders are spreading rumours and fear, trying to incite people to queue at fuel pumps," he declared, suggesting the party was seeking political gains from the international crisis rather than supporting national stability.
Modi further emphasized India's resilience and future potential, stating that the nation is fully capable of handling any crisis and is positioned to emerge as a global leader in renewable energy. He pointed to ongoing substantial investments in transmission infrastructure and energy projects as evidence of this forward-looking approach.
Major Development Projects Inaugurated
The Prime Minister's remarks came during a significant development event where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore across Gujarat. These initiatives span multiple critical sectors including:
- Power generation and distribution systems
- Railway network upgrades and expansions
- Road transport infrastructure improvements
- Healthcare facility enhancements
- Urban development initiatives
- Rural infrastructure modernization
Among the most notable projects was the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 5,100 crore. This major transportation artery is designed to significantly improve connectivity between these important economic centers, along with multiple rail upgrades and urban initiatives aimed at enhancing public services and regional development.
Strategic Defense Project Revived
Modi also highlighted the strategic importance of Deesa, revealing that a long-pending airbase project had been stalled for years under previous administrations. "Files were buried, but once you gave me responsibility, we revived the project. Today, a major Air Force base stands there," he announced, underscoring his government's commitment to strengthening national defense infrastructure that had previously been neglected.
The Prime Minister's comprehensive address combined defense of his government's crisis management, criticism of political opponents, and celebration of developmental achievements, presenting a multifaceted vision of India's current trajectory and future aspirations under his leadership.
