Ranchi: A total of 30 criminals were arrested and 1,355 warrants were executed during the second phase of 'Operation Prahar' across the district on Tuesday night, police officials confirmed.
Acting on the directives of Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Ranjan, the district police force—comprising city, rural, and traffic superintendents of police (SPs) and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs)—conducted simultaneous raids across multiple police station limits. The operation specifically targeted absconders, warrant defaulters, and individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities.
Objective and Strategy
The primary objective of the raids was to clear pending non-bailable warrants at all police stations in the district. Under 'Operation Prahar,' a special strategy was devised to curb crime, execute warrants, and tighten the grip on organized crime. The operation is reactivated at regular intervals and typically carried out late into the night.
Ranchi (City) SP Paras Ran stated, "In the second phase of Operation Prahar, multiple teams of Ranchi Police conducted raids across different police station areas, apprehending absconding criminals, warrant defaulters, and suspects. Thirty accused who were evading arrest for a long time were caught during the drive."
Additional Drives
Meanwhile, the Ranchi district administration conducted a separate drive on Monday targeting individuals involved in loitering, unnecessary gatherings, and substance abuse. The drive was carried out along the route from Lowadih to Durga Soren Chowk.
Ranchi (Sadar) Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Kumar Rajat explained, "During the drive, several youths were found loitering and forming unnecessary gatherings along the roadside. They were questioned and warned against indulging in loitering and substance-related activities at public places. They were issued a stern warning and directed to refrain from such activities in the future."
Previous Phase
In the first phase of Operation Prahar, conducted on May 16, over 150 criminals were arrested and more than 200 pending warrants were executed. The second phase marks a continuation of the police's efforts to maintain law and order in the district.
The operation has been widely praised by local residents, who have expressed relief at the increased police presence and the proactive measures taken to curb criminal activities. Authorities have assured that similar operations will continue in the future to ensure the safety and security of the region.
