Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched a scathing attack on opposition parties, accusing them of consistently opposing women's welfare initiatives. Addressing the state assembly, he highlighted various schemes and policies implemented by his government aimed at empowering women.
Government's Commitment to Women's Welfare
The Chief Minister emphasized that his administration has prioritized the safety, education, and economic independence of women. He cited the success of programs like the 'Mission Shakti' campaign, which focuses on preventing crimes against women and providing skill development opportunities. Yogi Adityanath stated that the opposition has historically resisted such measures, reflecting their disregard for women's issues.
Opposition's Alleged Obstruction
Yogi Adityanath alleged that opposition parties have repeatedly blocked bills and proposals related to women's welfare in the assembly. He accused them of playing politics over critical matters such as the anti-conversion law and the ban on triple talaq, which he claimed were designed to protect women's rights. The CM asserted that despite these obstacles, his government has remained steadfast in its commitment to women's welfare.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the increase in the number of women in the workforce and their representation in local governance. He credited these achievements to the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, which he said has created a conducive environment for women's growth.
Reactions from Opposition
In response, opposition leaders accused the CM of making baseless allegations and diverting attention from pressing issues like unemployment and inflation. They argued that the government's claims of women's empowerment are mere propaganda, pointing to the rising number of crimes against women in the state. The assembly witnessed heated exchanges as both sides traded barbs over the issue.
Despite the political sparring, Yogi Adityanath reaffirmed his government's resolve to continue working for women's welfare, stating that the opposition's negativity would not deter them from their mission. He concluded by urging all parties to support initiatives that benefit women and contribute to the state's development.
