The weather department has issued an orange alert for light to moderate rain accompanied by a few intense spells in Solan, Shimla and Sirmaur districts over the next few hours. The alert warns of waterlogging in low-lying areas, slippery roads leading to skidding of vehicles, low visibility and traffic congestion. Essential services and routine outdoor business activities may be temporarily affected at some places.
Yellow Alert for Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti
For Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti districts, the department has issued a yellow alert till noon. Kullu and Mandi districts are also likely to receive light to moderate rain at most places during the same period.
Advisory and Precautions
People have been advised to avoid vulnerable areas and keep a safe distance from water bodies. Most places in the state have been receiving rain over the past 24 hours.
