The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust has appointed new authorities to issue VIP darshan passes for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, following the deactivation of identification cards of former officials Champat Rai and Anil Mishra. The move comes amid efforts to streamline the darshan process and ensure transparency.
New Officials Designated for VIP Passes
According to trust sources, the responsibility for issuing VIP darshan passes has been transferred to a new committee comprising senior trust members. The decision was taken after the IDs of Champat Rai, the trust's general secretary, and Anil Mishra, a member, were deactivated due to administrative reasons. The trust has not disclosed specific reasons for the deactivation.
The new system aims to prevent misuse of VIP passes and ensure that only genuine devotees receive priority entry. The trust has also implemented a digital tracking mechanism to monitor pass issuance.
Background of the Change
Champat Rai and Anil Mishra were key figures in the temple construction and management. Their IDs were deactivated earlier this month, leading to confusion among devotees and officials. The trust clarified that the deactivation was part of a routine administrative overhaul to enhance efficiency.
“The trust is committed to providing a seamless darshan experience. The new arrangement will ensure that VIP passes are issued fairly and transparently,” a trust spokesperson said.
Impact on Devotees
The Ram Temple, which opened to the public in January 2024, has seen a surge in visitors. Daily footfall often exceeds 100,000, especially during festivals. The VIP darshan passes allow devotees to skip long queues, but allegations of favoritism and black marketing had surfaced. The trust’s new protocol is expected to address these issues.
Devotees can now apply for VIP passes through the official website or designated counters at the temple. The trust has also increased the number of general darshan slots to accommodate more visitors.
