RJD MP Moves Supreme Court Over Ram Mandir Fund Theft Allegations

An RJD Member of Parliament has approached the Supreme Court seeking complete disclosure of all donations made to the Ram Mandir construction fund since 2020. The plea also demands a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged theft of funds meant for the temple in Ayodhya.

Details of the Plea

The petition, filed on 4 July 2026, requests the court to direct the authorities to provide full details of donations received for the Ram Mandir, including the accounting, custody, and utilisation of the funds. The MP has raised concerns over transparency and potential misappropriation of public contributions.

According to sources, the plea highlights that despite repeated requests, the temple trust has not made public the complete financial records since the fund drive began in 2020. The MP argues that the lack of transparency undermines public trust and necessitates a thorough investigation.

Demand for CBI Probe

The RJD MP has specifically called for a CBI investigation into the matter, citing the large scale of donations and the need for an impartial inquiry. The plea states that any irregularities in the handling of these funds must be addressed to maintain the sanctity of the religious project.

“The devotees have contributed crores of rupees with faith, and it is the duty of the authorities to ensure every rupee is accounted for,” the plea states, as quoted by the petitioner’s counsel.

Background of the Issue

The Ram Mandir construction in Ayodhya has been a landmark project, with donations pouring in from across the country and abroad. However, allegations of fund mismanagement have surfaced periodically, prompting demands for greater transparency. The Supreme Court has previously dealt with matters related to the temple, including the landmark 2019 verdict on the land dispute.

The current plea seeks to build on those concerns, asking the court to order a full audit of the funds and a CBI probe if any irregularities are found. The next hearing is expected to be scheduled soon.
