Amit Shah Pledges Gorkha Voter Restoration, Gorkhaland Solution in Bengal Rallies
Shah Vows Gorkha Voter List Fix, Gorkhaland Solution in 6 Months

Amit Shah Makes Key Promises to Gorkha Community in Bengal Election Rallies

In a significant political move aimed at addressing the concerns of the Gorkha community, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday declared that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would restore all deleted names to the voter list if it assumes office in West Bengal. This announcement comes merely two days before the Darjeeling constituency goes to polls, highlighting the party's focus on securing support in the Hills region.

Voter List Restoration and Gorkhaland Resolution Pledged

Speaking at a rally in Sukna, Shah emphasized that approximately 40,000 Gorkha names have been removed from the voter rolls in the Siliguri (SIR) area. He assured that the BJP would rectify this issue promptly upon forming the government. Furthermore, Shah made a bold commitment to deliver a "solution" to the long-standing Gorkhaland demand within six months of taking power.

"Immediately after assuming office, BJP will start finding out solutions to the Gorkha issues. Within six months of forming government, we will reach a solution that will bring a smile to the face of every Gorkha," Shah stated, addressing the crowd with a message of hope and resolution.

Criticism of Previous Governments and Statewide Support

Shah did not hold back in his criticism of successive administrations in West Bengal, accusing them of exploiting the Hills region for political gain. "Darjeeling has been voting for BJP. But the party was not getting so much support from the rest of Bengal. This time, the entire state is prepared to dislodge Didi," he remarked, referring to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He alleged that governments from the Congress and Left Front to the Trinamool Congress had failed to address the genuine concerns of the Gorkha community.

Promises on Industrial Development and Law and Order

During his rally in Salboni, West Midnapore, Shah shifted focus to economic and industrial matters. He pledged that the BJP would revive the stalled Jindal steel project, which had seen land acquisition during former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's tenure but faced setbacks due to security and raw material challenges. "Only Modiji can complete the project," Shah asserted, linking the project's success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

Additionally, Shah addressed the issue of illegal sand mining in Salboni, vowing to put an end to such activities. "I know about the rampant illegal sand mining from the rivers at Salboni. That will totally stop after BJP forms government. There will be industrial development without any syndicate raj," he promised, highlighting his commitment to fostering a corruption-free environment for growth.

Strong Warning Against Electoral Disruption

In his third rally of the day at Kulti in West Burdwan, Shah issued a stern warning to political opponents. "I warn Mamata Banerjee's goons that if they try to disturb the poll process, I will ensure they are hanged upside down," he declared, underscoring the BJP's determination to ensure free and fair elections in the state.

These rallies, held across multiple locations including Sukna, Salboni, and Kulti, showcase the BJP's aggressive campaign strategy as it seeks to make inroads in West Bengal. With promises ranging from voter rights and regional autonomy to industrial revival and law enforcement, Shah's statements aim to resonate with diverse voter segments ahead of the crucial polls.
