Protest Continues for 12th Day
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar entered its 12th day on Wednesday, with activist Sonam Wangchuk reported to be stable but tired. The All India Students Association (AISA) raised alarms over the health of fasting students, specifically naming Aameen and Deepak, who have been on a hunger strike.
AISA claimed that doctors had advised both students to discontinue their fast due to deteriorating health. According to the student body, Aameen's blood pressure had reached critical levels, while Deepak's blood sugar had dropped to 70 mg/dL, well below the normal range.
Health Concerns Escalate
Sonam Wangchuk, the prominent environmental activist and education reform advocate, has been leading the protest demanding action on climate change and educational reforms. Despite his stable condition, sources close to him indicated that he was experiencing significant fatigue after nearly two weeks of sustained protest activity.
AISA representatives urged the authorities to intervene and ensure medical care for the fasting protesters. They alleged that the government was ignoring the health risks posed by the prolonged hunger strike, which could lead to irreversible damage.
Political Reactions
The protest has drawn attention from various political groups, with the Cockroach Janta Party claiming that the government's inaction was forcing activists to extreme measures. Abhijeet Dipke, a party spokesperson, reiterated their demands and called for immediate dialogue with the administration.
As the protest continues, the health of the fasting students remains a critical concern, with AISA calling for urgent medical monitoring and intervention.
