Jharkhand CM Soren and Bengal CM Banerjee Criticize BJP Amidst Campaign Travel Delays
Soren and Banerjee Slam BJP Over Campaign Travel Issues in Bengal

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have launched sharp criticisms against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during election campaigning in West Bengal, with both leaders alleging travel disruptions that hampered their schedules.

In a post on social media platform X on Monday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren made a pointed statement about regional development. "People of Bengal know that the state's development will happen from Bengal itself, not from Gujarat," Soren wrote, in an apparent reference to the BJP's leadership and policies.

Soren, who has been campaigning in West Bengal for three consecutive days, addressed political rallies in Bankura and Jhargram districts. His social media post further elaborated on his message to voters, stating: "The people of Bengal will vote cautiously, guarding against the deceitful and plundering BJP, to protect their culture and civilisation."

Campaign Travel Disruptions Become Political Flashpoint

The campaigning activities were not without controversy, as travel logistics became a significant issue. On Sunday, Hemant Soren was unable to campaign in Jhargram as planned after his helicopter experienced delays. The area had been declared a no-fly zone due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the region.

While Soren himself did not publicly comment on this specific incident, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed similar concerns on Monday evening. Speaking at a rally in Kolkata, Banerjee claimed that "non-cooperation from central agencies" was creating obstacles for her travel plans during the crucial election season.

Banerjee provided specific details about her own experience: "Today I was held up on the runway for half an hour on my way back. Yesterday, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's helicopter was stopped at Jhargram for 40 minutes."

Chief Ministers Question Aviation Priorities

Addressing another rally in Belaghata, the West Bengal Chief Minister expressed her frustration with what she perceived as unequal treatment. "I think chief ministers should always get some priority. But here, some aviation officials seem to have forgotten that," Banerjee told the gathered crowd.

The simultaneous complaints from two chief ministers from different political parties have brought attention to the challenges faced by opposition leaders during election campaigns. Both Soren and Banerjee represent regional parties that are competing against the BJP in their respective states and in West Bengal.

These developments occur against the backdrop of intense political competition in West Bengal, where multiple parties are vying for electoral advantage. The allegations of travel disruptions add another layer to the already heated political discourse surrounding the elections.

As campaigning continues across the state, these incidents highlight the logistical and political complexities that characterize election seasons in India, particularly when multiple high-profile leaders are campaigning simultaneously in the same regions.
