Suspended Congress MLA Aamir Khan has launched a scathing attack on his former party, blaming it for the backwardness of the Mewat region. Speaking to the media, Khan asserted that his vote in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections was a 'return gift' for the 80,000 voters who supported him.
Allegations Against Congress
Khan, who was suspended from the Congress Party for cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha polls, accused the party of neglecting the development of Mewat. 'For years, the Congress has done nothing for Mewat. The region remains backward in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The party only uses us during elections and then forgets our existence,' he said.
Return Gift for Voters
Explaining his decision to vote for the BJP candidate, Khan said, 'I had promised my voters that I would do everything possible to bring development to Mewat. When the Congress failed to deliver, I decided to support the BJP, which has shown interest in the region's progress. My vote was a return gift for the 80,000 voters who trusted me.'
Political Reactions
The Congress Party has condemned Khan's actions, stating that his suspension was justified. Party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, 'Aamir Khan's vote for the BJP is a betrayal of the people of Mewat and the Congress Party. He has chosen personal interests over the welfare of the region.'
Meanwhile, the BJP has welcomed Khan's support, with state party president Mohan Yadav stating, 'We appreciate MLA Aamir Khan's decision to vote for development. The BJP is committed to the progress of Mewat and all regions of Haryana.'
Impact on Mewat's Development
Khan's allegations have sparked a debate on the development status of Mewat, which is considered one of the most backward districts in Haryana. Local activists have called for a comprehensive plan to address the region's issues, including poor literacy rates, lack of healthcare facilities, and inadequate road connectivity.
Political analysts believe that Khan's move could have implications for the upcoming assembly elections. 'This incident highlights the growing discontent within the Congress Party and could influence voter sentiment in Mewat,' said political analyst Dr. Ramesh Sharma.
As the political drama unfolds, residents of Mewat are hopeful that their concerns will finally be addressed. 'We don't care about party politics. We want roads, schools, and hospitals. Whoever delivers that will get our votes,' said local resident Mohammad Asif.
