Mohali: Two cadets of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) have been commissioned as officers in the Indian Navy. Arpit Parashar, from the 9th course, and Vishesh Sood, from the 10th course, achieved this milestone at the Passing Out Parade (POP) held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala, Kerala.
Passing Out Parade and Reviewing Officer
The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command. The event marked the culmination of rigorous training for the newly commissioned officers.
Background of the Officers
Parashar hails from Dhuri in Sangrur district, while Sood is a resident of Mohali. Both cadets underwent two years of comprehensive training at MRSAFPI, followed by three years at the National Defence Academy (NDA) and one year of service-specific training at INA. They are now set to take up operational duties in the Indian Navy shortly.
Government Recognition
Punjab's Minister for Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training, Aman Arora, congratulated the officers on their achievement. He stated that their induction has brought pride to the state and reflects the government's commitment to supporting youth aspiring for careers in the armed forces.
MRSAFPI's Contribution to the Navy
With the commissioning of Parashar and Sood, the total number of MRSAFPI cadets inducted into the Indian Navy has reached 24. This underscores the institute's ongoing success in preparing young talent for military service.
Future Prospects
Institute Director Major General Ajay H Chauhan (Retd) revealed that 24 more cadets have cleared their Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews and are awaiting joining letters for courses beginning in June 2026. He extended his best wishes to the newly commissioned officers for a successful career in service.
