West Bengal result a warning for Congress in Karnataka: Joshi

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday said that the West Bengal election result serves as a warning signal for the Congress party in Karnataka. He alleged that the Congress's policy of minority appeasement would lead to a similar electoral outcome in the southern state.

Joshi's Remarks on West Bengal and Karnataka

Speaking to reporters, Joshi, who is also the BJP's Karnataka in-charge, said, "The people of West Bengal have rejected the Congress and its allies. This is a clear message for the Congress in Karnataka, which is indulging in minority appeasement. The same fate awaits them in the upcoming assembly elections."

Joshi's comments come after the BJP's strong performance in the West Bengal assembly elections, where it increased its seat tally significantly. The Congress, which contested in alliance with the Left Front, failed to make an impact.

Congress Accused of Appeasement Politics

The Union Minister accused the Karnataka Congress of pursuing a policy of appeasing minority communities at the expense of overall development. "The Congress government in Karnataka has been focusing only on vote bank politics. They are dividing society on communal lines. This will not be tolerated by the people," he added.

Joshi also highlighted that the BJP's development agenda and inclusive governance model are resonating with voters across the country. "The West Bengal results show that people are choosing development over divisive politics. Karnataka will follow the same trend," he said.

He further stated that the BJP is confident of winning the next assembly elections in Karnataka, scheduled for 2028, based on its track record of good governance and welfare schemes.

The Congress, however, dismissed Joshi's claims, stating that the West Bengal election was fought on local issues and cannot be compared to Karnataka. Congress leaders in Karnataka asserted that the party remains strong and united under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
