CM Yogi Adityanath Launches Sharp Attack on Congress at BJP Foundation Day Event
In a fiery address at the Bharatiya Janata Party's 47th Foundation Day function in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of fostering a 'separatist mindset' and committing 'betrayal' in the years following India's Independence. The event was held at Mansarovar Ramlila Maidan on Monday, where the CM emphasized the BJP's dedication to national unity and development.
BJP's Rise and Nationalist Ideals
Yogi Adityanath highlighted the BJP's remarkable journey to becoming the world's largest political organization, attributing this success to the foundational ideals of its pioneers and the unwavering commitment of its cadre. He stated that BJP workers have consistently lived for the nation and society, contrasting this with what he described as Congress's divisive policies post-Independence.
The CM urged 'every nationalist' to join the BJP, asserting that such participation is crucial to strengthening India's ongoing development trajectory. He framed the party as a beacon of unity and progress, rooted in a 'nation first' philosophy.
Criticism of Congress and Historical Context
Focusing prominently on the Congress, Adityanath alleged that its policies after Independence demonstrated a lack of commitment to national unity. He specifically cited the permit system and the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir as examples of this alleged divisiveness.
He recalled the legacy of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who strongly opposed such measures, famously raising the slogan against 'two constitutions, two flags, and two heads' in one nation. Adityanath noted that Mukherjee sacrificed his life for the cause of national unity, positioning the BJP as the rightful heir to this nationalist legacy.
Tribute to BJP Founders and Leadership
Yogi Adityanath also paid homage to Deendayal Upadhyaya, crediting him with introducing the concept of 'antyodaya' or the upliftment of the last person in society. He outlined the BJP's formation under Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1980 and its rise to power within 16 years, which he said reflects public trust in its ideology.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM asserted that people have placed their faith in his leadership since 2014, pointing to landmark decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the implementation of welfare schemes for the poor as evidence of this trust.
Upcoming Programs and Event Highlights
The Chief Minister announced a series of programs scheduled until April 14, which marks the birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar. These initiatives include cleanliness drives and upgrades to memorials, aimed at honoring India's constitutional architect and promoting social welfare.
At the event, MP Ravi Kishan echoed the 'nation first' theme, reinforcing the party's commitment to nationalist values. Additionally, the CM felicitated veteran workers from the Jana Sangh era, acknowledging their contributions to the party's growth and ideology.
