UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Raises Alarm Over Potential Naxal Revival in Noida Worker Unrest

In a significant development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has characterized the ongoing agitation by industrial workers in Noida as a probable effort to resurrect Naxalism within the country. Chairing a high-level meeting on Monday to address the issue, the CM voiced serious apprehensions regarding "indications" that certain forces might be seeking to exploit the situation to disrupt law and order.

CM Highlights Conspiracy Concerns and Calls for Vigilance

Yogi Adityanath stated, "Naxalism in the country is now at the point of elimination, but attempts to revive it could be part of a larger conspiracy. Some recent protests may have involved such misleading and disruptive elements." He underscored the necessity for heightened alertness in industrial zones, urging that the intelligence network remain active and that effective control be maintained over any provocative or disorder-spreading activities.

The CM insisted that such disruptive elements must be promptly identified and that the strictest possible action be taken against them to prevent escalation.

Emphasis on Genuine Worker Participation and Direct Dialogue

Reinforcing his suspicions about those behind the unrest, Adityanath asserted that only "genuine" workers should be permitted to participate in negotiations. He noted that there have been instances where external actors have attempted to create chaos by falsely claiming to represent workers. These individuals, he directed, should be excluded from the process, with the administration and unit management establishing direct communication channels with the actual workforce.

To facilitate this, the CM has instructed industrial development authorities to initiate dialogue with industrial organizations and representatives, aiming for the earliest resolution of problems.

Commitment to Labor Welfare and Strict Compliance with Laws

During the meeting, Yogi Adityanath underlined his government's dedication to labor welfare, directing officials to ensure strict adherence to labor laws across Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized that safe, dignified, and humane working conditions must be guaranteed for all workers.

Key directives included:

  • Ensuring timely and dignified remuneration for workers, with overtime payments made according to existing regulations.
  • Providing industries with mandates to offer safe workplaces, clean drinking water, toilets, rest rooms, health facilities, and necessary safety equipment.
  • Developing an effective mechanism for regulating working hours, ensuring the safety of women workers, extending social security scheme benefits, and enabling speedy grievance redressal.

The CM stressed that workers' issues must be addressed with sensitivity and resolved in a time-bound, just, and transparent manner, requiring active collaboration between industrial unit managements and the government.

Coordinated Efforts for Proactive Problem-Solving

In a move to preempt discontent, Yogi Adityanath directed the labor department to coordinate with the Noida administration to establish an effective dialogue system. This initiative aims to resolve problems at their initial stages, thereby preventing situations of widespread dissatisfaction from arising.

The CM's comprehensive approach reflects a dual focus on security concerns and labor rights, aiming to maintain industrial peace while safeguarding against potential threats to national stability.
