A tragic incident occurred near Neerasagar lake in Kalaghatagi taluk on Tuesday, where a 22-year-old youth lost his life after getting trapped in a rocky valley while swimming. The deceased has been identified as Sumit, a resident of Hubballi.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, a group of youths had visited the spot and entered the rocky valley to swim. During the swim, Sumit slipped into the water and became trapped among rocks. It was revealed that he did not know how to swim and had gone there primarily to shoot video reels.
Sumit, a resident of Shivashankar Colony near Siddharudha Mutt, died at the scene. Despite an extensive search, his body could not be located initially. Fire brigade personnel were subsequently called in, and police arrived at the location. After approximately an hour of efforts, the rescue team descended into the rocky valley and recovered the body.
Official Confirmation
Police inspector Shrishail Koujalagi confirmed the incident, stating that Sumit died after being trapped in the rocky valley. The incident occurred around 1pm, and the body was recovered in the late evening following a rescue operation carried out by fire personnel.
