In a shocking incident of political vandalism, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Zirakpur, Punjab, was targeted by unidentified miscreants late on Wednesday night. The attackers threw black ink on party posters and banners displayed outside the office, and also damaged some furniture inside.

Details of the Incident

According to party workers, the incident occurred around 11:30 PM when a group of around five to six individuals arrived on motorcycles. They first threw black ink on the posters of party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma, and then broke a window pane and tossed ink inside the office. The miscreants fled the scene before anyone could catch them.

Police Investigation Underway

Zirakpur police reached the spot after being informed by party workers. A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 427 (mischief causing damage) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Police are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits. No arrests have been made so far.

Senior BJP leaders condemned the attack and demanded strict action against those responsible. They alleged that the vandalism was carried out by opposition party workers to create fear among BJP supporters ahead of the upcoming municipal elections in Punjab.

This incident has raised concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The BJP has urged the Punjab government to ensure the safety of party offices and workers. Further investigations are ongoing.
