A fire broke out in two air-conditioned coaches of the Hyderabad-Jaipur Special Express at Hyderabad Deccan Railway Station on Friday evening. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the train was empty at the time of the incident.

Fire Incident Details

According to fire officials, the special train, which was scheduled to depart at 7:50 PM, was being positioned on platform number 4 when flames were noticed in the B1 coach around 6:25 PM. The fire quickly spread to the adjacent B2 coach. Assistant District Fire Officer V Bhanu Pratap stated that the train arrived on the platform between 6:15 PM and 6:20 PM, and the fire was detected shortly thereafter.

“The B1 coach was completely gutted, while the B2 coach suffered partial damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation,” he said.

Response and Damage Control

Firefighters from Amberpet and Gowliguda rushed to the scene with three fire engines and a water bowser. The blaze was brought under control within approximately 40 minutes. Staff from the South Central Railway (SCR) also acted swiftly by detaching the affected coaches to prevent the flames from spreading to the rest of the train.

“No passengers were inside the coaches. Alternative coaches will be arranged, and the train service will continue as scheduled,” officials added. They further noted that the exact cause of the fire will be determined after a forensic examination.

This incident caused temporary disruption at the station, but normal operations resumed after the affected coaches were isolated. The railway authorities have assured that safety measures are being reviewed to prevent such incidents in the future.
