Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) has once again extended the deadline for applications to its upcoming housing lottery, now set for May 28. This marks another delay in the much-anticipated scheme, which has drawn both interest and criticism.
Controversial Reservation for HIG Applicants
In a decision that has sparked debate, Mhada has reserved 610 out of a total of 1,221 tenements in Vikhroli exclusively for applicants belonging to the High Income Group (HIG). This move has raised questions about affordability and equitable access to housing in Mumbai, where real estate prices are among the highest in the country.
Free Parking Space Included
Each successful HIG applicant will be allotted one parking space free of cost. This additional benefit has further fueled discussions, as parking spaces in Mumbai are often sold separately at premium prices.
Lottery Draw Date Yet to Be Announced
While the application deadline has been extended, Mhada has not yet announced the date for the lottery draw. Prospective applicants are advised to keep checking official channels for updates.
For those interested, it is important to stay informed about related information such as gold rates, silver rates, bank holidays, public holidays, air quality index (AQI), and weather conditions in Mumbai, which may impact planning and travel.
