MP Harish Chandra Meena Urges Railway Connectivity for Tonk District in Parliament Session
During the Budget session in Parliament on Thursday, Member of Parliament from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Harish Chandra Meena, made a strong demand for connecting the district headquarters of Tonk with a railway route. He highlighted that Tonk district remains among the backward regions in the country where railway lines have not been established even after Independence.
Challenges Faced by Tonk Residents Due to Lack of Rail Access
Meena emphasized the hardships faced by the people in his constituency, stating, "I represent a district where residents have never seen a train in their city. For essential needs such as education, medical treatment, and other critical work, they are forced to travel long distances to cities like Kota and Jaipur." He pointed out that this lack of connectivity severely hampers daily life and access to vital services.
Call for Government Action on Development Promises
Referencing the central government's slogan 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas', Meena stressed that the public has placed their trust in these promises. "Now, it is the government's responsibility to uphold this trust and take concrete steps," he said. He specifically urged the government to prepare a proposal for connecting Tonk with Ajmer via Nasirabad through a railway line, which would significantly improve regional connectivity.
Impact on Social and Industrial Development
Meena further explained that the absence of railway connectivity is a major barrier to the social and industrial progress of Tonk district. "The lack of rail services not only inconveniences residents but also stifles economic growth and development opportunities," he noted. He called for immediate attention to this issue to ensure that the district can benefit from modern infrastructure and enhanced mobility.
In his appeal, Meena reiterated the urgency of the matter, urging the government to prioritize railway expansion in backward areas like Tonk to foster inclusive growth and development across the region.
