Bajwa: Akal Takht's 'Guru Drohi' tag for Mann grave concern

Chandigarh: Punjab assembly leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday described the decision of the Akal Takht, led by acting jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and other Sikh high priests, to declare chief minister Bhagwant Mann a ‘Guru Drohi' as a matter of grave concern carrying immense significance for the Sikh community.

Bajwa said the decision was taken after a forensic examination of an alleged video associated with the CM. He said the community has also been urged to keep a distance from Mann. He said the video deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community and caused immense anguish among Sikhs across the globe.

"Respect for Sri Akal Takht Sahib is not optional; it is a matter of deep sentiment for crores of Sikhs across the world," Bajwa said. He added the issue went beyond politics and concerned the dignity, sanctity and honour of Sikh institutions.
