The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular) have agreed to establish a coordination committee in Karnataka to strengthen their alliance. The decision was announced on July 10, 2026, following discussions between the two parties.
Committee Members Announced
From the BJP, the coordination committee will include Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka, and state president Vijayendra. The JD(S) is expected to nominate its representatives soon. The committee aims to streamline cooperation between the allies ahead of upcoming elections.
Strategic Move for Alliance
This development comes as both parties seek to consolidate their political position in Karnataka. The BJP and JD(S) have previously been coalition partners, and the new committee is intended to resolve differences and coordinate campaign strategies. According to sources, the committee will meet regularly to discuss policy issues and seat-sharing arrangements.
Political analysts view this as a significant step to counter the ruling Congress party in the state. The coordination committee is expected to play a key role in candidate selection and joint public outreach programs.
