Indore: Tension gripped Sailana town in Ratlam after severed bovine remains were discovered along the Ratlam-Banswara road near a nursing college around midnight on Tuesday. Videos from the scene showed the animal’s head and flesh scattered on a rocky patch beside the road, triggering outrage among local residents.
Protesters Demand Action
Videos recorded at the scene displayed the animal’s head and body parts lying separately. Activists remained at the spot throughout the night, demanding immediate action and the arrest of those responsible. Police launched an investigation while attempting to pacify the protesters.
Senior officers, including Sailana SDM Tarun Jain and police station in-charge Pinky Akash, reached the spot to monitor the situation. Additional police force was deployed as members of rightwing outfits staged a sit-in on the road, demanding the arrest of the culprits.
Protest Withdrawn After Ultimatum
The protest continued until around 5 am on Wednesday. The agitators later withdrew the dharna after issuing a two-day ultimatum to the administration to identify and arrest those involved.
DIG Nimish Agarwal stated that a case was registered under the Madhya Pradesh Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act, 2004 against unidentified individuals. In a similar incident ten days ago, a severed bovine head and other animal remains were found in Ratlam’s Civic Centre area, triggering protests by right-wingers. Members of a nomadic family from the Sathiya community were arrested in that case.
