Chandigarh MC Intensifies Anti-Encroachment Drive, Issues 63 Challans

The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has intensified its efforts to combat encroachments and unauthorized vending across the city. On Thursday, the enforcement wing executed a series of coordinated operations, resulting in the impounding of vehicles, clearance of public spaces, and the issuance of 63 challans.

Operations in Manimajra

At the Fun Republic parking area in Manimajra, six illegally parked vehicles were impounded. The area was promptly cleared to enhance accessibility and optimize the utilization of the parking facility. This action is part of a broader strategy to address traffic congestion and illegal parking in commercial zones.

Citywide Anti-Encroachment and Anti-Vending Drives

Simultaneously, enforcement teams conducted anti-encroachment and anti-vending operations in multiple sectors, including Sectors 40, 22, 46, and 45, as well as Industrial Area Phases I and II. During these drives, unauthorized vendors were removed, and obstructions on roads and footpaths were cleared to restore order and ensure pedestrian safety.

Objectives of the Drives

The municipal corporation stated that these drives are aimed at ensuring smooth movement of traffic, maintaining public order, and protecting civic amenities across the city. The authorities emphasized that such operations will continue regularly to deter illegal activities and uphold the rule of law.
