Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari chaired two high-level review meetings to assess the progress of major National Highway corridor projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as well as key multimodal infrastructure initiatives by the National Highways & Logistics Management Limited (NHLML). The minister stressed the need for timely execution to enhance connectivity and logistics efficiency.
Review of Highway Corridors in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Gadkari reviewed the progress of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, Chittoor-Thatchur Corridor, Raipur-Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor, and Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor in Andhra Pradesh. In Telangana, he assessed the Nagpur-Vijayawada Corridor and Solapur-Chennai Corridor. He directed implementing agencies to resolve pending issues through close coordination to achieve project milestones on schedule.
Emphasis on Timely Execution
Gadkari emphasized that the completion of these corridors would enhance seamless connectivity, enable faster movement of people and goods, strengthen regional economic growth, and contribute to the government's vision of developing world-class highway infrastructure under the Viksit Bharat initiative. He stated, "The timely completion of these projects will improve logistics efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and provide world-class infrastructure and amenities for commuters."
Review of NHLML's Multimodal Projects
In another review meeting, Gadkari assessed the progress of NHLML's flagship projects, including Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs), ropeways, intermodal stations, and wayside amenities being developed across the country. He highlighted the strategic importance of these transformative initiatives in building a future-ready, integrated transport ecosystem. He noted that these initiatives would enhance multimodal connectivity, unlock new economic opportunities, promote balanced regional development, and enhance India's overall logistics competitiveness.
Addressing Project-Level Challenges
The minister also reviewed project-level challenges affecting implementation and directed all concerned stakeholders to remove bottlenecks on priority and expedite project execution. According to the ministry, these projects are expected to significantly reduce logistics costs and improve efficiency, aligning with the government's goal of boosting economic growth through infrastructure development.
