Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed the administration to prepare a standard operating procedure (SOP) at the earliest to prevent delays in implementing development projects across various sectors and departments. The SOP will also cover the issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) by different departments, ensuring streamlined processes and timely execution.
Cabinet Meeting Review
The state cabinet, which convened on Wednesday, reviewed the situation arising from the West Asia crisis and the austerity measures announced by the state government following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fiscal prudence. Government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani informed reporters after the cabinet meeting that the chief minister regularly monitors ongoing projects and has instructed the chief secretary to formulate an SOP to address delays caused by departmental procedures.
Fuel and Fertilizer Situation
Responding to queries about shortages of fuel and fertilizers in parts of Gujarat, Vaghani stated that the cabinet reviewed the impact of the West Asia crisis. He said, "The CM has directed the administration to ensure fuel stocks are available at all stations. Fertilizers are a national issue linked to the West Asia crisis." The government is taking necessary steps to maintain adequate supplies.
Austerity Measures
On austerity measures, Vaghani mentioned that all departments have been asked to evaluate additional expenditures and take necessary actions to reduce them. This aligns with the prime minister's call for prudent financial management during global uncertainties.
Pre-Monsoon Action Plan
In another significant development, the urban development department and panchayats department have been directed to ensure that pre-monsoon action plans are implemented across all municipal corporations, municipalities, and other local bodies. Vaghani noted that there are representations regarding newly developed lakes that have not been filled with water. "The administration has been asked to identify water sources and fill all such empty lakes at the earliest," he said.
Tree Planting Drives
The state government will also celebrate 12 years of the Modi-led Union government with tree planting drives and welfare activities, promoting environmental sustainability and community engagement.
